Social Events

Social events play an important role at every conference because they allow participants to meet in a relaxed manner, discuss projects and perhaps start collaborations. Social events during ICIE-Paris conferences typically include an opening reception, the conference dinner, meeting breaks and field trips.

Social events for this conference include: (1) Participants’ evening programmes; (2) Children and accompanying persons programme; and (3) Post-Conference programme.

Second, Children & Accompanying Persons Programmes:

Monday June 30

PARC ASTERIX
Children (ages 3 to 11 inclusive): 60 €

Ages 12 and over: 65 €

The price includes transport from Paris to Parc Astérix (Shuttle will leave from the Louvre Museum at 8:00 a.m.) and the entrance fees. Lunch and drinks are not included (approximately 10 euros are needed for these expenses).

The first French theme park, created in 1989, Parc Astérix have many attractions such as the biggest wooden roller coaster in Europe, impressive loop-the-loops, reproduction of rides from the beginning of the last century, the Trojan Horse, a giant swing-ship, and more attractions and shows.

For younger children,  Parc Astérix have attractions such as “ghost train”, the “big splash” with whirlpools, eddies and splashes, the “Epidemais cruise”, rides on the water, train rides, and more attractions and shows

 
Tuesday  July 1

CITE DE LA VILLETTE

Children (ages 3 to 11 inclusive):  42 €

The price includes transport from Boulogne to “La cite de la Villette”,  the entrance fees for the children’s cité or the Explora Exhibition, an Imax movie and lunch.(a picnic on the grounds of the Cité des Sciences).

La Cité de la Villette is a National Museum of Science, Technology and Industry. It is also called “City of  Sciences”. This museum includes a Children’s Cité designed on the scale of children aged 3 to 12 with the aim of arousing their curiosity, where they can explore their senses, discover and compare different species of animals. They also can discover other cultures and understand communication issues.

Older children and adults can spend time on Explora Exhibitions where people can explore, discover and see where they fit in to the way science and technology is changing.

In this City of Sciences, you also can see 3D movies, and IMAX movies in the Geode.

 

Wednesday July 2

GREVIN MUSEUM OR “LES CATACOMBES”,  followed by THE “GRANDE GALERIE DE L’EVOLUTION” AND THE “JARDIN DES PLANTES”

Including the visit of the “Grevin Museum” in the morning

Children (ages 6  or less): 37 €

Including the visit of “Les Catacombes” in the morning

The price includes transport from Boulogne to the museums and the museums entrance fees. Lunch and drinks are not included (approximately 10 euros are needed for these expenses)

The Grevin Museum is a place where hundred wax figures are waiting to meet you and to be photographed with you. You will see the “Tout Paris” celebrities, the major events of the 20th century, French history and the latest news. There is also a Hall of Mirrors and a children’s corner where children are allowed to touch and identify materials as wax, resins, hair.

In “Les Catacombes”, visitors can wind their way through a network of tunnels 20 metres under the ground, where six million Parisians are buried.

Created under Louis XIII in 1635, the Jardin des Plantes takes the visitor on a walk through a Botany school (The royal garden of medicinal plants) and many gardens as the Alpine garden or the Rose garden.  In the same area, as much as a theatre of life itself, the Great Gallery of Evolution displays thousands of animal specimens. Larger than life, they tell the astonishing story of evolution presented in three acts in a grandiose stage set.


Thursday July 3

VINCENNES CASTLE, then THE FLORAL PARC or THE LOUVRE MUSEUM
Recommended for younger Children (ages 10 or less): 40 €, afternoon spent on the Parc Floral.

Recommended for older children (ages 10 and more): 50 €, afternoon spent on the Louvre Museum.

The price includes transport from Boulogne, all the entrance fees, lunch.(a picnic on the Parc Floral) and countless attractions in the Parc Floral.

Since its construction in the 14th century by Charles V, the Chateau of Vincennes has been, along with the Louvre, one of the most important castles in French history. Vincennes is also one of the biggest and best preserved castles in Europe. From the Donjon to the Saint-Chapelle (Holy Chapel), you will visit the Chateau’s various architectural components.

Near this castle, the Parc Floral is a famous flower park and an open-air museum where the works of contemporary artists are exhibited. The park offers a vast space for children to play with countless attractions.

Older children may prefer the visit of one of the most famous museums in the word, after lunch they will be accompanied for a two hours visit of the Louvre Museum.

 

Friday  July 4

DISNEYLAND PARIS PARK

Ages 3 to 11 inclusive: 65 €

Ages 12 and over: 70 €

The price includes transport from Paris to the Park and the entrance fees for one park (Disneyland or Walt Disney Studios Park; one day is not enough for visiting the two parks).

Disneyland Park:

Many attractions (Space mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean).

Walt Disney Studios Park :

Saturday July 5

WALKING TOURS OF PARIS with a qualified guide

Proposal 1

All day tour – 40 Euros per person (if more than 25 people).

This price includes entrance fees for the Louvre Museum and the Palais Garnier. Lunch in the Palais Royal not included.

This tour includes the Louvre Museum, the “Comedie Française”, the Palais Royal, the old National Library, the Opera and the famous international stores (Printemps, Galerie Lafayette).

The OPERA GARNIER : The Music Palace, where Charles Garnier created a new style: the “Napoleon III “ style.

Proposal 2

All day tour – 40 Euros per person (if more than 25 people).

This price includes entrance fees for the Musée d’Orsay. Lunch in the Quartier Latin not included.

This tour includes the Musée d’Orsay, a walk on the Seine’s docks with their typical bookstores, the “Quartier Latin” and the Cité Island (Notre Dame de Paris).

Musee  d’Orsay: all the 19th century artistic trends born with the Industrial. Since the Barizon School, the Courbet and Manet Realism up to Cezanne and the fauvists.

Notre dame and La Cité: the majestic Notre Dame, linkes with Paris history its 900 years history and stained- glasses in the rose's windows.

EVENING EXHIBITION – 8 :00 p.m.

SUNDAY July 6

VERSAILLES with a qualified guide

All day tour – 100 Euros

This  price includes transport from Paris to Versailles by bus, the Palace and the Grand and Petit Trianon entrance fees, the visit of the Hameau de la Reine (Marie-Antoinette’s farm) and the lunch (drinks not included).
The royal estate of Versailles was during the XVIIth and the XVIIIth centuries the main home of kings Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI. Closed during the Revolution, it was transformed into museum in the XIXth century by the last king having reigned in France, Louis-Philippe Ier. Several millions of visitors come every year to discover the Royal Apartments, the Hall of Mirrors, the Chapel, the King's Chamber, the Opera but also the "Grand" and the "Petit Trianon", the French style gardens, the Coach Museum or the room of "Jeu de Paume". Guided visit to the Royal Apartments, free time to take a walk in the French style gardens; in the afternoon, you will visit the Grand and the Petit Trianons, where the Kings loved to rest and forget about the Etiquette of the Court.
